Navigate by Air, Land or Sea

GPSMAP 96C's three navigation modes and built-in autorouting basemap let you go from plane to car to boat to hiking boots without missing a beat. With 119 megabytes of memory and a mini-USB port, you can quickly download and store map data from a variety of optional MapSource® products. Add detailed street maps to receive voice prompts and turn-by-turn directions to addresses and points of interest. For a great day on the water, customize the waterproof 96C with marine cartography. The 96C also operates on 2 AA batteries, making it easy to use on foot.

The Garmin GPSMAP 96C is available in three different versions*:

*Flybubble note: We deliver the GPSMAP 96C version with Atlantic Lite Routable basemap and Atlantic database. This is generally the version which most people who live mainly in Europe want as this gives more detail across the Atlantic region (which includes Europe and Africa). Most people who live mainly in Europe don't want the Americas or Pacific basemap and database versions as these give less detail across the Atlantic region.

Atlantic Lite Routable Basemap:

This basemap comes factory installed with the GPSMAP 96, GPSMAP 96C, StreetPilot c320, and StreetPilot c330. 

Garmin mapping units come with built-in, permanent basemaps that cannot be altered. These basemaps come in a variety of global designations (i.e., Atlantic basemap). Please see your local dealer when purchasing a Garmin mapping unit to ensure that you are purchasing one with a basemap that's appropriate for your location and needs. Factory-installed basemaps cannot be altered. 

The Atlantic Lite Routable basemap v3 includes Europe, extreme western Russia, Africa, and the Middle East, and covers an area from N75 to S60 Latitude, W30 to E60 Longitude. Also included is a high-level worldwide map with political boundaries and major cities. 

The standard map coverage for the Atlantic Lite Routable basemap includes: 

• Oceans, rivers and lakes (greater than 30 square miles)
• Principal cities and some small cities and towns
• Major motorways and/or interstates and principal highways
• Political boundaries (state and international borders)
• Major Airports 

A. Iceland, Great Britain, Baltic States, Denmark, Germany, Benelux, France, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Southern Africa (up to S20 Latitude). In addition to the standard map coverage, these areas also include: 

• Lakes greater than 5 square miles, major streams and rivers
• Small cities and towns 

B. Northern Africa (above S20 Latitude), Extreme Western Russia, Middle East 

• Standard map coverage
