The Green brothers, AKA the ‘Acro Twins’ take you on a whirlwind tour of the world of the professional acro pilot.

Hopping from Europe to America and back again the film captures fantastic footage of some of paragliding’s most impressive stunts. Headfirst launches from bridges, acro shows, D-bags from paramotors and speedflying all star in a para-stunt extravaganza, but are all out shone by a headfirst launch from a crane perched high on a Parisian skyscraper.

The Green brothers have excelled in this, their first DVD release, a film that knits fantastic acro footage together with two endearing characters into an engaging story.

Auburn's 'Acro Twins' Reach New Heights

by Cheri March

Former Lake-of-the-Pines residents Anthony and Timothy Green return to the foothills to share their adventures on the big screen

Paragliding is considered the simplest form of flying, relying on hot air currents rather than engines or fuel. Riders attach a harness to an inflatable canopy and launch themselves by foot or boat, though the Greens have also been known to push off with skis.

"It's one of the safest forms of flying there is," says Phil Green, the twins' father. "But what they do is not ...I have too many gray hairs."

Some of the brothers' more jaw-dropping-albeit carefully calculated-stunts involve D-bags, or leaps off other gliders, and flicks, in which a paraglider "flicks" a base jumper off his canopy, as well as their famous synchronized rolls and spins, some that exert three or four G-forces.

Timothy dreamed up the concept for "Lift" while producing a film of his first D-bag in Northern California.

"I came to the dilemma of a lack of content so I delved into the footage library that my brother and I had built over the last four years," he says. "I realized there were so many incredible images that only we'd seen, thus the true concept of 'Lift' was born-to share our world with those around us."

While still mostly unheard of in the U.S., paragliding is mainstream in Europe-prompting the brothers to move to France, where hundreds of gliders can be witnessed floating above alpine lakes on a good weather day.
